Woah, flag day was really exhausting and my feet ached after standing for many hours.

Went to 3 places with Jet, Jingya & Thanh (they don't have these flag day things in Vietnam & China... Unless you consider begging "flag day" sans the flags.) - AMK, Bishan & Toa Payoh. 1 hour at each.

Bishan wasn't a good place to ask for donations coz there were too many students. Middle-aged people gave more. Toa Payoh was great. Parents really like to ask their kids to put money in la.

Anyway, I got my Mandarin insulted by some aunty, nagged at by an irate & bitter uncle, asked funny questions ("Where is the Youth Centre situated at?" "What's its Chinese name?" "What services do they offer?" "Are you a recepient of their services?" "Do they have an old folks' home as well?" Uh huh. I'm supposed to play the role of the Informed & Knowledgable Social Studies Student.), rejected, ignored, but also thanked, appreciated & wished well.

It's funny how at first your emotions are drastically affected & swayed by people's responses to your "Would you like to make a donation?"s. Like, you can be totally happy one second, and then utterly torn apart the next. Talk about mood swings... Then after that you realise that rejection is part of doing flag day (and life) & we've gotta move on.

I've never said hi to so many people in 3 hours... But it was a good experience.

p/s: Jingya finished all the flags really quickly! & her tin was superrrrrrr heavy la. Thanh & Jet did splendidly too. Some people, who really don't deserve the CIP points at all, had 3 coins in their tins. 3.
Outrageous.
