I wonder how many people want to erase all their memories and start over again. Cancel their mistakes and re-write their past. But what makes us think we'll do better the second time round, right?

And I've realised, people generally like to say that "they've been hurt". Hurt. What's hurt? Is your hurt the same as my hurt? If I say I've been hurt am I self-pitying? And is there even some selfish interest involved in voicing that out? Coz we want love and comfort and empathy?

I think so.

But anyway, that aside. Today's lit class was really inspiring. Relief teacher, Miss Cheryl, used to teach at ITE and she told us stories from there. Though given my background and the kind of work my dad does, I should be familiar with stories of delinquents etc. However, it was still inspiring and really allowed me to see the world from a different POV. Miss Cheryl told us of how this guy had to skip school to go to work to support his family. From a teacher's POV, of course you'd ask that student to stop working and come to school. But really, Family vs Education. How can you possibly ask him to choose education? That'd be selfish, ain't it? They say that education is the key to the "vicious poverty cycle", the answer to a bright future, but it's really just not feasible in some situations. Look at us, when we've the chance, we pon school. Other people can't even come even if they wanted to. Miss Cheryl also said that in VJ, supposedly "top 20%", we were never made to feel like we were unwanted, uncapable and worthless, but for her students they face that kinda treatment everyday. Plus the stigma they face from society just from going to ITE. LIfe's really different for them. Come to think of it, I really can't imagine how life is life for them. All my problems and all are so...negligible. She told us other stuff too and I was so inspired, I really wanna be like her next time.

Oh, and today for cca we went to this primary school to tutor the p6 kids. They don't care about their studies at all. And I really mean AT ALL. They smoke, are in gangs, use vulgarities, don't go home till 12am (mind you - p6...) and think being retained/expelled from school is "cool". When I first went there I really had sort of a culture shock. It's so hard to relate to the kids, get them to listen to you. My tutee didn't know how to pronounce the word "wild", another didn't know what this -> ? was called.

How do you help them? PSLE is in how many days?

Anyway, (random) you know, I must tell you about my awesome classmate. He dropped his H2 econs entirely not because he doesn't do well in it (he does well, ok) but because, listen to this - he had TOO MANY UNITS. Like what on earth, right?! So smart, can do so many H3s and other only-for-the-top-0.01%-of-entire-cohort-in-singapore kind of deviant subjects until he has not enough units to go around... -.- Usually people associate dropping a subject with bad results right? His is the exact opposite.

Sheer awesomeness. I want his smarts!

So, I had my Grade 7 piano exam yesterday and it went pretty badly, I thought. I think it’s my worst exam so far. Was quite disappointed. :\ The scales were especially bad. I think about 7 to 10 scales were tested in the exam. And just for the fun of it, I decided to count how many scales I had to know (and practise religiously every day) in total.

So after summing everything up (D major staccato and D major legato I counted as one) (chromatic scales which can begin on any note I also counted as one scale)… I discovered, to my shock and horror, that there was a whopping grand total of 97 scales I needed to know.

NINETY-SEVEN LEH…… And 4 octaves for each scale except 2 somemore. That’s like almost insane can… No wonder I always took so long to practise… -.-

Anyway, thanks for all your support! So glad I met Angeline Goh before the exam too :) And while I was waiting to enter the exam room, I saw through the glass panel my piano teacher and my mom outside, praying for me together - which really tugged at my heartstrings and made me tear.

P.S. Sharonmoo took Grade 1 last month and we received news today that she got a Merit. Yay, well done! :)

My class had SLV (honestly I can't rmb what it stands for - Service-Leadership Venture, School Learning Visit, Service-based Learning Vsomething??) But basically it's some CIP thing la. We divided St. Nicks girl guides into groups and gave them a tour of Singapore's historical sites, amazing-race style. It was fun. Most probably the most fun CIP ever. :) This photo was taken after the CIP. The umbrella is just a prop.

Oh and this was photosoc's very very fun outing to Sentosa! :D We played sea volleyball (and other stuff later on), and that's why we're all in the water. Oh you know Jasmine, Eliz, Evon and I all coincidentally wore yellow! :D We called ourselves the Bananas. Yay!

OK MY BLOG IS SO DEAD.

I can't believe it la. I didn't blog for one month and of all months it's the holiday month -.- ridiculous.

Ha. So anyway, eh, for the past 1 month I've been "studying" for the exams, just like everyone else (or maybe they study while I "study"). Then suddenly *TADAH* vjc decided to be special and postpone the exams by 1 week. I wouldn't say the studying was wasted, but anyway, here I am now studying when EVERYBODY ELSE'S EXAMS ARE OVER. *sniff*

So there.

Lalala. Oh, today while studying with Jas, Amanda and Yan Lin we unofficially formed a family! Amanda and I are twins (I'm younger) (And oh my gosh - we are fraternal to the max. She's like tall and slim and pretty and has nice hair etc etc). I am a little girl who gets lost a lot and Amanda has slow reactions. We're both cute and love singing songs. HA.

Jas is the mom and Yan Lin is the dad (actually they were both moms at first but then it got kinda weird after a while... Hm.) Amanda and I decided to be korean-y and we call our parents Oma and Opa (Opa is most prob made-up, I don't know...) YAY.

What a happy family :) I want an allowance.

Eh why is everyone so stressed... Cheer up ok, all! :D

Went to J8 with Eliz, Jazzy Wazzy and Evon today! :D Studied at the library with them too. Was pretty fun. They're awesome people to hang out with la. VJ had a somewhere-between-full-and-half day off today. Students Council and CT Council investiture was in the morning. It was... as all investitures are. Hm, yes.

Oh oh, I passed my 2.4km yesterday! :D Hurrah! Thanks to all who supported & encouraged me. It really made a huge difference :) And you know what? My classmates are awesome la - coz I passed I get a swiss roll (thanks stephanie!) and an ice-cream (thanks Jas and Wenjie)!!! As rewards! Haha. :D :D :D Yay!

Coz my classmates know that I'm always one of the first from the back, so they wanted to motivate me. :D (With FOOD huh. Eh, what kind of impression do they have of me?!!!!!)

Woah, HAHA, April Fools' Day at VJC is such a hyped-up event la! xD

You know, amidst such seemingly "dire circumstances", I'm really impressed and almost astounded that my dad can be so positive, joyful, at peace. He still jokes so much, haha :)

Indeed, it is through bad cirumstances when we can see God's faithfulness, see God work in His own mysterious ways.

Perhaps God's leading the ministry in a new direction, says dad. During such situations, we must lean on God all the more, see an increase in our faith, build our trust in Him.

God's still in control, and all things do indeed work for the good of those who love Him. Amen! :)
